Artemisia Launches GIRLS SUMMER CAMP News

Artemisia launches its first-ever Girls Summer Camp, running July 9-14, 2018, at Oak Brook Park District Center. Empowering girls 12-18 through theatre, Artemisia Girls Summer Camp provides a week-long curriculum in improvisation, theatre games, body movement, storytelling, ensemble work and performance. Artemisia Girls Summer Camp welcomes all students, whether or not they have theatre experience or training. Artemisia’s core values are empowerment, inclusion and diversity and girls from all backgrounds, ethnicities and cultural influences are strongly encouraged to enroll.

Research shows teenage girls suffer from low self-esteem due to pressure to fit in, the need to please others and difficulty trusting their own “voice.” Artemisia Summer Camp will give girls ages 12-18 a nurturing environment to boost their creativity and share their empowering stories. “Artemisia Girls Summer Camp is a perfect extension of our mission – to empower girls through theatre – and welcomes all to experience theatre as a way to gain confidence, self-awareness and share the magic of their creativity,” says Julie Proudfoot, Artemisia’s founder and Executive Artistic Director.
