Editor's Note: Bison. Bison? Bison! is presented as part of the Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks series, which showcases arts programming in neighborhoods across the city. Now in its fifth year, the 2017 Night Out in the Parks series will host over 1,000 cultural events and programs at more than 250 neighborhood parks throughout the city.  The city’s goal is to make community parks a safe haven and hubs of activity.  Projects in this series vary from traditional performances and concerts, to movies, peace rallies, community workshops, nature based programs, dance pieces, festivals, and more. The Chicago Park District has partnered with more than 100 arts and community organizations to expand and produce this successful initiative.

Blue Goose Theatre Ensemble and Chicago Parks District present Bison? Bison. Bison!, an original work directed by Brent Ervin-Eickhoff, with movement direction by Jessica Ervin. This production was written and devised in collaboration with Blue Goose Theatre Ensemble members, original score by Evan Cullinan, Allison Grischow, and the Ensemble.

Bison? Bison. Bison! is a folk-rock operetta satirically chronicling the history of the North American bison and humans' conservation efforts over the past 400 years. Combining song, dance, and puppetry, Bison? Bison. Bison! imagines a humorous future for America's National Mammal, as they are sent to a free-range wildlife preserve on Mars amidst Earth's depleting grasslands.

Bison? Bison. Bison! runs July 16 at Winnemac Park at 4 PM, August 5 at Touhy Park at 4 PM, and August 30 at Columbus Park at 6 PM. All performances are free to the public.
