Chicago Fringe Opera Announces its 2017 – 2018 Season – Two Premieres

Chicago Fringe Opera (CFO) has announced its 2017-2018 season—

  • As One , a joyful coming-of-age story about a transgender woman. The chamber opera is written for baritone, mezzo-soprano and string quartet, with music by Laura Kaminsky, libretto by Mark Campbell and Kimberly Reed, and an accompanying film by Kimberly

November 16, 17, 18 and 19, 2017.

  • The Great God Pan by Chicago composer Ross Crean . Scored for two pianos, the work is an adaptation of Arthur Machen’s 1894 novella of the same name, commonly recognized as one of the first horror novels in The opera was recorded earlier this year on the Navona Records /Naxos of America label.

March 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18, 2018.

Chicago Fringe Opera Season Other Events

Other events during 2017-2018 include, a season opening celebration on Saturday, September 30, 2017 and CFO’s annual Fringemas holiday concert on Monday, December 11, 2017.

CFO’s American Voices series -- recitals featuring the CFO ensemble singing contemporary music in English -- continues throughout the year.
