Deeply Rooted Dance Theater 20th SEASON Preview- Storytelling Dance

Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, founded in 1995,  is rooted in the traditions of African American dance and storytelling. Using many genres of dance, Deeply Rooted works with choreographers from across the country to reflect universal truths in their work.   

The next two performances are part of Deeply Rooted Dance Theater’s Summer Dance Intensive June 26th-July 22nd , that hosts 70 national and international students helping  students learn more about dance through a series of workshops and performances.

Emerging Choreographer Showcase

South African Choreographer, Fana Tshabalala

South African Choreographer Fana Tshabalala presents a Chicago focused adaptation of his work, INDUMBA.  INDUMBA, originally created to reflect on the unresolved issues with South Africa’s Apartheid laws, will be reworked during his three-week residency with DRDT.
