A spokesperson describes the event as follows:

"...In 2013, Terence Blanchard premiered Champion, an opera, with libretto by Michael Cristofer, based on the life of Black boxer Emile Griffith. For the first time, the opera will be performed in New York at the Metropolitan Opera starting April 10. In celebration of this New York premiere, the Library for the Performing Arts hosts a discussion about the opera, Emile Griffith, and Blanchard's work. Blanchard and a guest will join us for an intimate conversation about the work..."
