This December, members of Unsupervised Chicago, the city’s only collaborative, conductorless orchestra, bring the sounds of the season to the Irving Park neighborhood.

Founded in 2017, Unsupervised is a member-organized ensemble performing orchestral music from the 18th century to the present. With a process rooted in collaboration, Unsupervised aims to reinvigorate orchestral music through vibrant performances forged through the collective engagement of everyone involved.

A spokesperson for the group says, “Unsupervised is committed to fostering a community through music and so has taken its performances out of traditional concert spaces and into the community.”  This performance will include Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker.  The ensemble then invites the audience to join in the music-making as well with a carol sing-along to end the evening.

Proceeds from ticket sales support the Fed with Grace food pantry and Unsupervised Chicago.
