“...Chicago Sinfonietta’s opening concerts feature music from and inspired by India, with guest conductor Roger Kalia—who is also one of Sinfonietta’s past Freeman Conducting Fellows—leading the Chicago premiere of selections from his own Symphony Masala on the first half of the program, with renowned Indian singer “Juju” as soloist. Symphony Masala—a collection of Bollywood (India's Hollywood) songs selected from the past seven decades—is the first-ever fully orchestrated arrangement of Bollywood music set to Western instrumentation..."
