The Houston Grand Opera presents Songs for Murdered Sisters, a filmed song cycle aiming to bring attention to gender-based violence around the world.

The cycle includes eight songs, with music by Jake Heggie and poetry by Margaret Atwood, performed by singer Joshua Hopkins with the composer at the piano.

According to a spokesperson for the project, Hopkins, who lost his sister to gender-based violence in 2015, “aims to inspire 10,000 men to take the #WhiteRibbonSisters Pledge to ‘never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women’.”

For more information, visit the Songs for Murdered Sisters website and the White Ribbon web page on this project.
