A spokesperson describes the event as follows:
“...Azalea - Five Ballets by Miro Magloire, including a world premiere, all created in Magloire's signature, in-the-round style with the audience seated on all sides of the stage. The five ballets showcase original, new voices of musical expression, all commissioned by New Chamber Ballet over the past five years…"
“...The program's world premiere is set to composer Didi Gu's Undercurrent for violin and piano. The Chinese-American composer, currently based in Florida, received her bachelor's degree from the New England Conservatory, and her master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music. She is now pursuing her PhD at the University of Florida.
Premiered earlier this year is Fog, an ingenious interweaving of musicians and dancers, with the music by Hyesun Sun Lee making sounds and the dancing traveling through space, whimsically escaping the constraints of their art forms.
Vox, which premiered last February, resulted from a collaboration with Elizabeth Gartman, whose score for piano and violin is inspired by the mechanics of vocal music.
The Distance Between Bones is a daring duet from 2023 set to a violin and piano composition by Ya-Lan Chan..."
