 Like so many others in Cusco that day, the day before and the days after, he wore a futbal (soccer) jersey.

To be in Peru at this time is to feel our team making that win and qualifying for the World Cup games in Russia. Peru’s team may not get further than this, but this month has been a time for the country to savor its win, tourists included.

This off-season month for tourism, has also had its share of on and off rain. But off-season means first and foremost a time to see Peru with fewer fellow tourists with whom you have to jostle for views. That said, thinner tourists numbers were certainly hard to believe in the selfie gridlock at Machu Picchu.
