Picture This Post Student Volunteers – Expectations of ALL Student Volunteers

Students volunteering in any and all positions with Picture This Post, need to honor the following commitments.  It is estimated that doing so takes between 30 - 60 minutes per week.

  1. COMMUNICATE IN A PROFESSIONAL AND TIMELY WAY

When emails to you are titled “Response Requested”, “SOONEST ATTENTION” or “QUERY” please respond in a timely way.

Generally speaking, if you are sent an email with your name in the subject line it usually means a response is requested in a timely way. If it is a BCC email you usually do not need to respond.

  1. WRITER/ EDITOR FEEDBACK SYSTEM –

You will keep up to date with the Picture This Post WRITER/EDITOR FEEDBACK SYSTEM on each article.  (Note: This is actually a mechanism to keep an ongoing focus on your training.)

You will receive emails every time a new story is published You will have a sign in to the back end of the magazine that allows you comment on how well each article meets certain criteria.  (It's little more than a quick click.) This is both to help your trainers see what you are seeing and, in some cases, or you to essentially “vote” on a particular story’s quality.

  1. SHARE 2+ STORIES /DAY ON YOUR PERSONAL SOCIAL MEDIA

You can either opt to share these stories on an existing social media platform and account you have or ask for assistance setting up an account (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest) specifically for this purpose.

  1. UPLOAD EVENTS TO THE READERS' CALENDAR

Periodically, an editor may ask you to read a particular press release to see if it interests you and/or to upload this event the Picture This Post Readers' Calendar.

This takes ~three minutes per press release.  If you are too busy, e.g. you are in the midst of finals, you are required to return it in a timely fashion to the editor.

  1.  KEEP A CUMULATIVE REPORT

This is, in part, for any future references you may need when you are doing a job search or applying for post-Graduate education.  The frequency with which you will need to update this report varies from weekly, monthly or per semester– depending on your position. This report is mostly for you so that you have a running list of everything you worked on and accomplished during your tenure with Picture This Post.
