“...For over forty years, Deborah Butterfield has devoted her practice to a singular subject—the horse—transforming discarded materials such as driftwood and reclaimed steel into powerful and poetic forms. Her sculptures, often cast in bronze, retain the detail and composition of the original materials, resulting in works that convey a refined physicality and commanding presence.
This new exhibition brings together a selection of recent sculptures that highlight Butterfield's ongoing investigation into balance, stillness, and gesture. Ranging from intimate studies to commanding full-scale figures, each piece conveys a thoughtful sense of character and emotion without relying on traditional realism.
