FIVE The Parody Musical Review — Pressure Relief Valve

Expect to sit near somebody or somebodies sporting political buttons and maybe with a broad smile flashing you a V for Victory/V for Peace sign.  We are the audience for this take-off of SIX, all presumably steeped in Trump news-to-the-tee.  Just to walk in the door means you too sport a big X on your jacket—-political junkie.

With such a crowd hungry for the red meat of Trump jokes, Shimmy Braun & Moshiel Newman Daphna (Books and Lyrics) and Billy Reece (Music & Lyrics) really can’t go wrong.

FIVE Brought to Life with Live Wire Talents

The conceit of the script a la Six is a reality TV-like competition between five women each contending for the title of most screwed by The Donald.  The divas playing these parts all have voices suited to opera halls or stadiums and apparently a good deal of fun hamming it up in their assigned personas.  Anyae Anasia in poofy blond wig and thick accent recounts her journey as the wife #1 Ivana, reduced to doing pizza takeout commercials from a brand she doesn’t like.  Gabi Garcia as Stormy in a red leatherette costume uses her mic to great effect to sing about how she just gave him head.  Gabriella Joy Rodriguez is a bless-your-heart-a-minute Marla, recounting how she fell for his promises of crowning her Miss Universe.  Jamie Lyn Beatty as Melania croons in her accent how life is better with a potato, as vodka bottles are flashed by the ensemble. Hannah Bonnett tells of the trials of being a nepo-baby whom everyone thinks is having sex with her Dad.  But the winning Queen for a Day, is none other than drag star Jasmine Rice LaBeija as Hillary Clinton— that we all get to agree was THE one screwed over the most, other than us and the entire USA— just saying.

These performers keep the action going with knock offs of Chicago’s Jailhouse Tango and similar running joke take-offs of not only SIX, but other songs that Broadway groupies will know and be able to hum to.

This is 100% shtick tailor-made for all of us who keep listening to the news on TV in the same way crowds gather to gawk at a train wreck.  If that describes you, expect an 80-minute chance to laugh out loud in the same room with your kindred spirits.
