Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K Rowling

I still remember the first time I was introduced to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I was much, much younger. Probably no more than nine or ten. At the time, I still hadn’t particularly fallen in love with any books. So when my mother began reading this story to me about an orphaned chosen one destined to attend a school larger than life, I was hooked.

Night by night, chapter by chapter, I engrossed myself in JK Rowling’s characters and the universe she was crafting. Not only did this book and its sequels help foster my vivid imagination, it also helped me and many other young adults reconcile with the realities of tragedy, and when it appears in our lives. If Harry Potter can make it through all the scary and dark things he’s forced to endure, then so can we.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is available for sale on Scholastic, among other sources.
