“...free outdoor cultural experiences celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, featuring musicians, dancers, and storytellers May 16 and 17 at three Cook County Forest Preserves.
Pan-Asian artists bring cultural memories of nature to life, transforming the stories into a vibrant, immersive performance experience. Musicians representing South Asian, East Asian, and Southeast Asian traditions perform in a collaborative set that blends diverse cultural sounds and styles. Inspired by personal reflections on nature collected through interviews by the Mandala team, the performance shares stories about memory, land, and community.
Southeast Asian dancers also lead an interactive dance workshop at each event, inviting audience members to learn simple movements and participate in the experience. No dance experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome to join..."
