Like a painter’s palette, the ripples in the canal create an artwork of its own, combining the facade’s vivid shades.

Copenhagen is home to an unpoliced, graffiti-riddled freetown, boasts more bicycles than residents, and is the city where Hans Christian Andersen’s storybook imagination was born. Take a step into the Danish capital.

Local police turn a blind eye to Christiania, a self-governed, marijuana-friendly neighborhood in the heart of Denmark’s capital. The unmistakable landmark restricts photography in spots and serves as the antithesis to the scrupulously-run streets just blocks away.
